Department of Civil Engineering

Laboratories

Civil Engineering Laboratories
Geotechnical Engg. Lab

One of the most important labs of civil engineering and is related to various tests of the soil which ultimately supports all the loads of superstructure. This lab provides facilities for grain size analysis, Atterberg’s limits tests, shear strength test, bearing capacity determination, penetration test etc.

Building Material & Construction Lab

Building materials like bricks, cement, fine aggregates (sand), coarse aggregates and concrete blocks etc. are tested here in this laboratory to check their suitability as construction materials.

Computer Aided Designing Lab

Computer aided designing lab is related to the software training for design and drafting of structures. Modern software like STADD PRO, AUTOCAD, GEO-5 etc. are available in the laboratory for the very purpose of training of the students. These software are widely used in the field of civil engineering for designing and drafting of civil structures. The department trains the students in such a manner, that they can meet the technical needs of the field.

Environmental Engineering Lab

Ten different experiments related to Water quality parameters of supply water and waste water are conducted in this laboratory. The lab is equipped with new advanced equipment’s for testing water pollution, sound pollution and air pollution.

Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulics Lab

This lab is a combination of fluid mechanics lab and hydraulics lab. All experiments related to the fluid properties and flow can be conducted in this lab. It is one of the well equipped lab in the department with all modern equipment and facilities.

Surveying & Geo-Informatics Lab

The Surveying and Geo-informatics lab is one of the highly advanced labs of the department. Equipment’s like Total Station, G.P.S. etc. in addition to the conventional instruments like Dumpy level, Auto level, Theodolite, Plane table, Prismatic compass etc. enhance the standard of the lab. Latest techniques and equipment’s are available for the study of students.

Structural Analysis Lab

One of the basic and most important, structural analysis lab is a well established lab in the department and helps students to understand the basic concepts of structures.

Transportation Engineering Lab

Test of highway construction materials such as Los angles abrasion test, impact test, flash and fire point test, ductility test, striping test, penetration test for bitumen, crushing value test, etc. are done in this laboratory.

Non Destructive Testing Lab

Non-Destructive Test is one of major laboratory of our department used to evaluate concrete structure performance and establish compliance for the quality of concrete. NDT is a wide group of analysis techniques used in laboratory to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage.
